Go With the Guru

This trip has (very sadly) been cancelled but will be re-scheduled soon.

Oregon Wine Country Trip 2009 dates announced

A lucky ten people will join the Wine Guru in Portland in July. This is the fifth trip of its kind, and is quite unlike any possible without the guru. Dates for this year's trip are July 12 - 18, 2009.

Participants will meet in Portland on Sunday, the 12th for a weeklong adventure of a lifetime. These trips are very popular, as you can imagine, and spots fill up fast. This happy group will be able to see The Willamette and Portland like never before.  We'll receive VIP reception at ten wineries in the Northern Willamette Valley and the Red Hills of Dundee.

Past wineries include:
Ponzi Vineyards, Adelsheim, Domaine Drouhin, Chehalem, Sake One, Lange Winery, Sokol-Blosser, Hamacher (Carlton Winemaker's Studio), Domaine Serene, Elk Cove, Argyle and Rex Hill.

Our hosts at the wineries will be the winemakers or family members.  We'll enjoy amazing food with menus created just for us and winemakers joining us for dinner.  We'll have lunch at the wineries and even sample single-vineyard wines in the actual vineyards!  There will be plenty of barrel tastings too.

As the Wine Guru, I'm excited to have become great friends with this gang.  Good wine has a way of doing that, you know?!

The pictures on the slide show to the right are from the Oregon 2006 trip.  You won't want to miss this chance.

Fun Wine Event held in Odessa

Working with Jessica from The NoHo Bistro, The Tampa Wine Guru presented an evening of food and wine this weekend at the beautiful Quantum Leap Farms in Odessa, Florida.  It was a highlight of my week, and reminded me of why I'm in this business.  There were six couples there, and all enjoyed amazing foods and wines to match.  Don Jowdy was lucky enough to win the evening's festivities at a live auction benefitting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation held at Saks Fifth Avenue in Tampa.

I'd urge you all to check out the link to the website for Quantum Leap Farms.  This equestrian farm is a therapy center for people with disabilities.  The work they're doing is important and inspiring.  Please visit the site and consider supporting this cause.  It's because of generous people like this that the world is such a wonderful place to drink wine.

I bet if you contacted Edie, she'd be happy to show you around the farm and introduce you to the therapy horses and animals.  You'll love it.  I sure did.

Wine Classes

Learn from the guru at some very informative wine classes. Everyone always has a good time, and some great wine.

Wednesday Wine Classes

Are on a break for a short while.  As soon as

a new venue is established, they'll resume.

Full Classes Schedule to be posted soon.

You can always talk to The Wine Guru about your very own wine class.  Classes at all levels of wine knowledge are available with enough notice.  I do a Wine 101 that's lots of fun and very informative.  If you'd like to put something together, let me know.  This is a great alternative to the usual dinner party.  Invite your friends, and let the guru do the work!
